Rausch Haus holds grand reopening
New menu items, a unique coaster bar, and a remodeled interior.
On the surface, there appears to be plenty to like about the Rausch Haus in Palmerton.Located at 950 Delaware Avenue, the business held its grand reopening on Monday.Debra Rausch-Hahn, who has owned the establishment since 2002, said the interior has been completely remodeled.With its full cast of emblems, the coaster bar serves as a main attraction for visitors who marvel at its look.As for the kitchen, customers can choose from quite the array of German and Pennsylvania Dutch cooking.Once inside, she said customers have the choice to either eat in or take out their food."We have good stuff," Rausch-Hahn said. "I'm very proud to open up the kitchen and our dining room to the public."Customer favorites she mentioned include the Famous Rausch burger, Rausch buffalo chicken sandwich, Cajun poppers, alligator bites, Reuben sandwiches, homemade pierogies, wiener schnitzels, and various other German foods."We want to build up our food business, and we want to entice people to try our food," she said. "We have a lot of imported beer on tap, bottles, and German beers."Happy hour is from 4-6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, Rausch-Hahn said. As of June 1, the business will be a non-smoking establishment, she said."We've gotten a lot of feedback on how clean the place is, and we strive on keeping it clean," she said. "We've been told we're friendly and outgoing, and we have a lot of good people here."Various military memorabilia can be observed on the walls of her establishment as well, as Rausch-Hahn has been a staunch supporter of our troops.Her son, John Williams, a 1995 graduate of Palmerton Area High School, is a sergeant first class in the United States Army.Rausch-Hahn said Williams is set for his fourth deployment overseas, this time to Afghanistan.For her part, Rausch-Hahn has received certificates of appreciation for care packages she's sent to our soldiers stationed in Iraq since 2004.The Rausch Haus is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to closing.
