A Schuylkill County woman, who reported her rental car stolen from a parking lot at the Fairlane Village Mall in Norwegian Township, has been arrested and charged with making a false report to law enforcement authorities.

Carol A. Lempfert, 48, of Minersville, reported to state police at Frackville on Saturday, March 6, that the rented 2001 Dodge Stratus she had was stolen from the lot sometime between 2:30 and 3 p.m.Troopers said the car was later located in Philadelphia by city police who reported it was found unoccupied with heavy front end damage. Through an investigation it was learned that Lempfert knew that the car was in Philadelphia and that it had been involved in an accident. It was also determined that Lempfert fabricated the story of the theft in order to protect herself from being in trouble for letting someone else operate the rented vehicle. The car is owned by EZ Rent-A-Car of Pottsville.Lempfert will face the charge before District Judge Charles V. Moran, of Pottsville, troopers said.
