Roy Christman presented an implementation agreement for the regional comprehensive plan to the Towamensing Township supervisors at their Thursday meeting. It is needed before the plan can move forward. Each of the four municipalities will still have their own zoning ordinances but projects of significant importance to a neighboring municipality will be discussed. However, the originator of the project can still make its own decision without regard to the discussion.

Christman said people should run for office as either the Democratic or Republican county committee people who will be up for election. "It's a great way to get involved in local politics," he said.His third comment was that Marie White had made a cake from her farm-show-winning recipe for everyone to share. Connie Bieling said, "Chocolate is a good way to settle things."Resident Randy Stermer said the zoning officer has been very cooperative with his plans for a home. Newman said he should get a record of accidents at the corner from the state police and then talk to Rep. Keith McCall.Engineer Ron Tirpak was sent to inspect Pohopoco Farms where he found problems. But he was supposed to have gone to Lakeview Estates. He will be notified to make the correct inspection.The Koch Bridge plans will be reviewed at a meeting with Tirpak and county planner Judy Borger on Feb. 9, 9 a.m., at the municipal building.A total of$2,000 was approved to put the Stacy Smith property on Deer Lane on the sheriff's sale list. Nanovic was to check if there were any other liens on the property. The township's bill is for the property cleanup at a cost of $24,000.Fees for a zoning hearing were increased from $350 to $750.Diana Dorman of the Pa. State Association of Township Supervisors will teach Quick Books to both Towamensing and Lower Towamensing office staffs and set up the offices according to PSATS standards. The cost will be $1,185. A new computer at $525 and copier with scanner at $800 will be purchased. The computer is needed before the training can begin.Resident Guy Seifert said one of the supervisors should also be trained.Kleintop said the garbage billing is kept on an old DOS computer and believes a lot of money is owed to the township because of computer inaccuracies.A special audit will be performed by Frey and Company.If anyone knows of dangerous situations such as trees over roads or water freezing on a road where drainage is poor, they should be identified to Newman who may be able to get county money to correct them.Zoning office hours are 5-7 p.m. beginning Monday and every other Monday and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday and every other Saturday, or by appointment. Materials may be left with the secretary for the zoning officer.The planning commission will meet with the supervisors following its Feb. 8, 7 p.m., meeting for a workshop. There will be a demonstration of a Geographic Information System program which creates maps that help with planning, zoning and general office use.The garbage truck has been driving on the shoulders of the road tearing them up. Collectors will be more careful in the future to remain on blacktop.Sandy Adamson, the part-time clerk, is collecting used phones to send to the troops. They may be dropped off at the office.
