A Lehigh County teen, one of four arrested during a drug sting operation in Jim Thorpe last year, was sentenced to a long state prison term Monday in Carbon County court.

Jose Martinez, 19, of Allentown, was sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to serve 18 to 36 months in prison on a single count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-heroin.Martinez was arrested on March 25, 2009, along North Street, in the borough when he and three others were in the area to make a drug sale. Police had set up a sting operation and when the sale went down moved in to arrest the four.The four were in 1991 Honda and fled the scene when police moved in. After short chases police apprehended the four. Arrested with Martinez, were Ivan Reyes, 19, Christian Ortiz, 19, and Carlos Gonzales, 22, all of Allentown.After his arrest in Carbon, Martinez was cited in Allentown for drug dealing. In January he was sentenced in Lehigh County court to serve 18 to 60 months in a state prison.Nanovic refused to grant Martinez's request to have his Carbon term run concurrent with the Lehigh sentence. Nanovic said the terms could run consecutively.In addition, Nanovic ordered Martinez to supply a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee; get his General Education Dipolma (GED) while in prison; get both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations; and was made eligible for the state boot camp program. However, Nanovic said that recommendation would probably be rejected by the state because of the Lehigh sentence. He told Martinez to contact Lehigh officials concerning the program if he is interested in it.Martinez was given no credit against the term.
