Newly-elected Lansford Mayor Ronald Hood Jr. called the borough's reorganization meeting to order on Monday evening. New council members - Democrats Danielle Smith and Robert S. Hackash, and Republican Adam C. Webber, along with returning Democrat Lenny Kovach - were sworn in to their four-year seats. Councilman Tommy Vadyak started a new two-year term.
The new council then elected officers: Robert Gaughan to another term as president; Mary Kruczek as vice-president; Vadyak as president pro-tempore.Council will wait until it meets on Jan. 19 to name a vacancy board chairman.Nicole Tessitore was kept as secretary-treasurer and Robert T. Yurchak as solicitor. Council will wait until Jan. 19 to hire a borough engineer and sewage enforcement officer.Council will continue to meet at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. The exception is this month, when council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 19. Meetings are held at the Lansford Community Center, 1 West Ridge St.The 2010 meeting schedule is: Jan. 19; Feb. 10; March 10; April 14; May 12; June 9; July 14; Aug. 11; Sept. 8; Oct. 13; Nov. 10; Dec. 8.
