Monroe County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in an armed robbery investigation.

Stroud Area Regional Police Department is seeking the public's help in solving an armed robbery that took place at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4 at Maxies Cigar Shop, SR611, across from Gray Chevrolet.

The preliminary investigation revealed the following sequence of events: Both males entered the shop together. There were several customers in the store at the time. The suspects waited for the customers to leave and a suspect approached the store clerk displaying a large handgun. It was not able to be determined if the handgun was a semi-automatic or revolver.

After demanding money, both suspects pushed the store clerk out the rear door and threatened to shoot her if she re-entered. The store clerk went to an adjacent store and called 911. It is believed that the suspects fled out the front door just before SARPD's arrival. A possible vehicle involved that was seen just before the robbery in the parking lot was described as a white Ford Explorer or Expedition type.

Anyone with information on this "Crime Of The Week" or any other serious crime or wanted person, call Monroe County Crime Stoppers at 1 (866) 370-1518. Callers could be eligible for cash rewards and you may remain anonymous.
