File for divorce

Kathleen M. Malloy,190 Grier Ave., Barnesviille, started a divorce proceeding against John T. Malloy, 361 W. Main St., Girardville. They were married Feb. 14, 1981.

Michael J. Powanda, 194 Long Run Road, Frackville, filed for divorce from Mary Ann Powanda, 10 W. Center St., Mahanoy City. They were married Oct. 7, 1992.

Divorces granted

Onocencia Morades, Schuylkill Haven, was granted a divorce from Fernando Morades, National City, Calif. They were married July 25, 1971.

David L. Walter, Schuylkill Haven, was granted a divorce from Sherri L. Ellis-Walter, Richmond, Va. They were married June 29, 2000.

Stephen M. Lagaza was granted a divorce from Michelle Laganza, both of Schuylkill Haven. They were married Sept. 23, 1995.

Anthony P. Petrole was granted a divorce from Sharonlyn A. Petrole, both of Ashland., They were married Sept. 11, 1982.

Breach of contract

Ford Motor Credit Company, Mesa, Ariz., filed suit against Normen T. and Nancy J. Ward, 117 Chee St., Barnesville, alleging breach of contract.

The suit alleges on June 29, 2005, the Wards entered into a motor vehicle retail installment contract for purpose of obtaining financing and received $24,787.89 to purchase a new vehicle. The suit claims they have defaulted on payments. The car was repossessed and was sold for $8,000 for which the Wards are given credit and the suit alleges a balance of $3,525 is owed plus interest and costs.

Credit card suits

The following actions were filed by credit card companies, or their collection agencies, for alleged defaults on credit card accounts.

Midland Funding, LLC, Nev., filed suit against Arthur Karpiuk, 135 W. Blaine St., McAdoo, alleging a balance of $8,062,51 is owed.

EMCC, Inc., Mounta Laurel, N.J., filed suit against Sylvester Kufro, 1049 Barnesville Drive, Barnesville, alleging a balance of $7,491.05 is owed.

G.E. Money Bank, Alpharetta, Ga., brought suit against Barbara Garber, 148 Grier Avenue, Barnesville, alleging a balance of $2,828.74 is owed.

Citibank (South Dakota) N.A., Malvern, filed suit against Andrea R. Miller, 185 Greenwood St., Coaldale, allleging a balance of $2,590.24 is owed.

Chase Bank USA filed suit against Brent C. Confer, 229 W. Rowe St., Tamaqua, alleging a balance of $6,735.28 is owed.

Asset Acceptance, LLC, Warren, Mich., files suit against Margaret L. Wheeler, 243 Whitetailcross Road, Tamaqua, alleging $852.34 is owed.

Tax liens

Panther Valley School District filed a lien against Dennis R. Koch Jr., alleging $981.86 is owed for real estate tax on property at 226 W. Ridge St., Coaldale.

Tamaqua Area School District filed lien against Paulette B.Gigli, trustee for Mauch Chunk Land Trust, alleging $1,301.99 is owed for real estate taxes on property at 44 E. Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua.

Tamaqua Area Sohool District filed liens against Debra Kurtz, and others, alleging real estate tax of $1,438.46 is owed on the property at 76 Jones St., Quakake, Rush Township.

Tamaqua Area School District filed a lien against Joseph and Michelmarie J. McKeown alleging $895.58 is owed in real estate taxes on property at 301 Orwigsburg St., Tamaqua.

Revoke probation

Gregory John Willilams, Frackville, had his probation revoked by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin and he was re-sentenced on the charge of forgery to serve 23 months in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) with the first six months on electronic monitoring.

Special conditions were added including he shall not use alcohol and shall have no contact with the victims in this case or the contempt case. Williams had pleaded guilty to forging a prescription to obtain drugs and was placed on probation 23 months last February.


John Stephen Sanders, Pottsville, who was found guilty by a jury last September of a charge of simple assault was sentenced by Judge D. Michael Stine to serve 15 months on probation, pay a fine of $400 and court costs, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Acccout, a $50 monthly supervision fee and perform 50 hours of community service. He was charged with assaulting a prison guard.
