Three area athletes make PTFCA Indoor All-State team
Three TIMES NEWS area student/athletes were named to the PTFCA Indoor Track and Field All-State teams.
Northwestern's Lindsay Kerr, Palmerton's Lanny Buck and Lehighton's Abby Frey all received All-State Honorable Mention honors for their performances at the State Championship meet or their performances over the entire winter indoor season.
Kerr improved her indoor track performance this year from an 18th place finish in the mile at last year's Indoor State Championship, and a 10th place finish in outdoor track in 1600 meters at the PIAA State Championship, to her 4th place finish indoor this year.
Last year was her first year running track. This year she was able to reduce her time to a 5:06.00 mile. Lindsay's time at the state meet was a personal record for her in the mile
Buck has also improved his performances this past year. He was 7th at the 2009 Indoor State Meet in the pole vault with a jump of 13-6. He finished 9th with the same height at the PIAA outdoor track and field championship meet last May. Saturday, at the PTFCA Indoor State Championships, he cleared 14-6 and finished 3rd.
Frey is tied for 2nd in the state in long jump with a distance of 18-7 1/2 at the Emrey Christmas City Relays.
She did not compete at the state meet, but her performances this winter garnered her All-State Honorable Mention honors.
