Lehighton field hockey honors

Lehighton's outstanding field hockey season has been rewarded with several postseason awards.

Topping the list of Indians who won honors was Echo Bretz, who was named First Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Bretz was just one of 16 high school players in the nation to receive that honor.

Lehighton coach Shawn Hindy was named the NFHCA's 2010 Mideast Region Coach of the Year.

In addition, five Indians were recently named to the Pennsyvania All-State Field HockeyTeam

Bretz, Jordyn Homyak and Courtney Berger were all named first-team All-State. Kathy Beck was named to the second team and Rachel Werley was named honorable mention.
