LAHS chorus will hold annual concert

The Lehighton Area High School Chorus will be presenting their 55th Annual Christmas Concert on Thursday, Dec. 9 beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The program entitled "Swing Into Christmas" will be held in the auditorium at Lehighton High School.A nominal admission fee is charged. All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society and Holiday Educare.The concert will feature the schools Concert Choir which is a mixed curricular ensemble and the award-winning show choir "Music Express".The choirs are under the direction of Mr. David Perkins. The mixed choir will perform a selection from the holiday classic, "Home Alone" and an exciting arrangement of "Jingle Bells".This choir will also sing a few selections in Latin accompanied by Ellen Perkins, an 8th grade LAMS student, on the violin and the "Faculty Brass" ensemble."Music Express" is a select auditioned vocal ensemble that adds choreography and movement to their performances. The 22 select singers will perform "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" along with a selection that Disney used in the 2009 Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in NYC."Music Express" was selected last December to perform at the resort in Florida. The show choir will be making their third consecutive holiday appearance at Hershey Park on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 4 p.m.This year the program will also feature some small ensembles as well as Kirk Arner as he performs "O Holy Night" accompanied by Rebecca Hoffner.The Girls Sextet will sing a selection made famous by the Andrew Sisters entitled "Jing-a-Ling, Jing-a-Ling".This year's Double Male Quartet will sing a new arrangement of the traditional carol "We Three Kings". The new vocal jazz group, "Varsity Voices", will sing an a cappella arrangement of the holiday favorite "Up On The Housetop" and "The Christmas Song".The choirs are accompanied by Schyler Cordova, Rebecca Hoffner, and Elyse Kistler.The concert is open to the public and the doors will open 30 minutes prior to the concert.
