Heritage Center

The current exhibit in the feature room of the Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Ave., is a look back at the first 20 years of the Palmerton Area Historical Society, and five years of the Heritage Center. Special events are planned throughout the year. The center is open Wednesday through Saturday each week (except holidays) at different hours. Phone (610) 824-6954 for a recording of times each day. Admission is free.

Art show

The Palmerton Concourse Club will hold its annual Art Show in Palmerton on Saturday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 12, from 1-4 p.m.

It will be held at St. John Neumann School hall at 3rd and Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Art and photography exhibitors, adults and students will participate in all media, black and white and color.

Applications for exhibitors can be obtained at the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave.

Community meal

A free community meal will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Come enjoy a free meal and fellowship. All are invited.

Book Club

The Third Monday Book Club will resume meeting at the Palmerton Area Library on Sept. 20, with a discussion of the book, "A Thousand Splendid Suns", by Khaled Hosseini. The club welcomes newcomers, and is open to all adults. A copy of the book is available at the library. Call the library at (610) 826-3424, or stop in for information.

Preschool story hours

Preschool story hours will be back at the Palmerton Area Library beginning Sept. 3, and continuing every Friday during the school year at 10:30 a.m. The story times are free and open to the public.
