Palmerton comes through

Dear Editor:

As president of the Palmerton Concourse Club, I would like to express my gratitude toward the community of Palmerton. Once again, our community has come together to help in a unique way.The Palmerton Borough Park Bench Project began with requests for donations and sponsorships from area organizations, businesses and individuals to replace the old benches in the park. After an overwhelming response to the requests and two years of preparation, businesses, families, and individuals (some from as far away as Pittsburgh) came together in the borough park on Saturday, June 5 to conquer the task at hand and assemble the 109 sponsored benches. They set their ratchets in motion, and before long, the benches became a shining new addition to the park.I would like to sincerely thank everyone who volunteered that day, including the Palmerton Lumber Company, the Palmerton Borough, Pencor, and Shea's Hardware, as well as the many families and individuals who made this vision a reality. I would also like to express special thanks towards David Daily and Fred Reinhard of Pencor. Moving the heavy concrete bench ends would not have been possible without the use of a skidster supplied by Pencor. As I leave office, I would also like to thank the ladies of the Palmerton Concourse Club. Without their mentorship, friendship, and support, this project would not have been possible. With Warmest Regards,Christine J. CampbellPalmerton Concourse Club President
