Pocono Mountain Regional Police report that a four-month narcotics investigation has resulted in two drug trafficking arrests out of a Monroe County automotive business.

Arrested are Joseph Szumera, 48, and Michelle Szumera, 45, of Tobyhanna. They were arraigned on charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin, marijuana and different prescription medications, along with other related drug offenses; endangering the welfare of children; and corruption of minors.The defendanhts are currently being held at the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, awaiting arraignment and the setting of bsil.Police said they conducted the undercover operations that resulted in the purchase of heroin, marijuana and prescription drugs from the defendants at both their residence at 6145 Cherokee Trail, Tobyhanna, and their business, S & L Car Care Specialists, Swiftwater.Officials obtained a search warrant that was executed on Dec. 17 by offices from the department, the Monroe County District Attorney's Office and the Monroe County Drug Task Force. During the search, officers obtained evidence of the illegal trafficking of narcotics. Police also located and obtained evidence of their possession of quantities of heroin, marijuana and prescription pills, specifically oxycontin and percocet, which they obtained through legal prescriptions and then sold to the public.Police said they also obtained evidence that the paid utilized their 19-year-old and 23-year-old daughters to sell their pills throughout the area. Evidence also identified the couple was selling narcotics out of a residence where there was also a 14-year-old child residing with them.
