Crime Watch group to hold annual Christmas party

They lend an extra set of eyes and ears to report crime in their community from behind the scenes.

But, come Thursday, members of the Slatington Crime Watch organization will be front and center at their Christmas party at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall.Police officer Daniel Buglio said Santa Claus will be on hand, along with a small elf, not to mention plenty of food and drinks."It's for all residents to say thank you, and hopefully we can get new people there, recruit new members," Buglio said. "We're hoping to get a good turnout, enjoy some free food, free drinks."Slatington Crime Watch is a neighborhood watch program that meets the third Thursday of every month in the Borough Hall board room on Walnut Street in Slatington.All Slatington residents are welcome to attend and membership is free. The organization is comprised of borough residents and members of its law enforcement community.The organization on its web site says its duty is to "ask our neighbors to be alert, observant and caring - and to report suspicious activities or crimes immediately to police."For more information, email the Slatington Crime Watch at
