Joseph Sebelin, South Street, Jim Thorpe, received word that the ship on which he is employed in Brooklyn, N.Y. was completely destroyed in an explosion which wrecked a pier, killing nine and injuring 247 people this morning. Sebelin, a captain for the B & O Railraod for the past 15 years, is spending a vacation at his home. Sebelin had left the ship a short time before the explosion. Victor Sebelin, a brother and also a Jim Thorpe resident, is employed in the vicinity of the pier and witnessed the disaster.
