Tamaqua teacher George Taylor was awarded the highest national honor a high school journalism teacher can achieve. He was named 1985 National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year by the Dow Jones Newsapper Fund. The award was presented in the cafeteria of Tamaqua High School by Thomas Engleman, executive director of the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund, and Dean Robert Smith of Temple University's School of Communication and Theater.
