All night party

Parents and family members of the Panther Valley Class of 2010 are encouraged to attend the next meeting of the All Night Party Committee on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. in the high school library.Final plans for the Powder Puff Football game will be discussed along with future fundraising efforts.Committee sign-ups for the All Night Party are under way and all suggestions and ideas are welcomed.CoaldaleCommunion SundayThe Service of the Lord's Supper will take place during the 9 a.m. Morning Worship service on Sunday, Oct. 4, at First Congregational Church, Coaldale. Sunday School will follow at 10 a.m.Other activities for the week include the following:Monday, Oct. 5, 7 p.m. Church board meeting.Tuesday, Oct. 6, 7 p.m. Women's Class.Wednesday, Oct. 7 11 a.m. Nursing home ministry at St. Luke's-Miners, and at 1:30 p.m. at MapleShade, Nesquehoning. Choir rehearsal will be held at 6:30 p.m.Sunday, Oct. 11 9 a.m. Morning Worship; 10 a.m. Sunday School.Summit HillSHCIO to meetThe Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, in the Summit Hill Borough Hall. Debra Ranck, president, will be in charge of the session.Anyone interested in joining the organization can obtain an application from Councilman Harry Miller or at the Summit Hill Water Authority office.Nominations of officers for 2010 and projects for the new year will be discussed at this time.Food distributionThe Summit Hill Food Pantry conducts a monthly distribution of food boxes to the needy in the community. Anyone in need of the assistance, or knowing of individuals or families who do, is asked to contact Rose Marie Armon, (570) 645-3604, or Emma Weaver, 645-7348.The pantry, a non-denominational entity, is always in need of donations and manual assistance. To donate items or your time, contact the above persons as well.The Summit Hill Lions Club has taken on the task of assisting the pantry with its distributions as a service project. Boxes are usually packed on a Thursday (Oct. 22), beginning at 9 a.m., and are distributed on the fourth Tuesday (Oct. 27), starting at 9 a.m. The Second Harvest truck delivery of commodities (which needs to be unloaded) usually takes place on the last Thursday of the month (Oct. 29). Lions Club members are reminded of these upcoming dates and can contact President Kenneth Vermillion for additional information on helping with the duties.Council meetingThe monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Joseph Weber, president, will chair the meeting.Legion to meetThe monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, Aug. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.Communion breakfastThe Our Lady of Fatima Sodality, formerly of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will hold its annual Communion Breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 18. The annual event will be held this year on the anniversary of the "Miracle of the Sun at Fatima."To make reservations, call Dorothy Gieniec or Cindy Sabol.
