Tamaqua police cite Slatington man

A Slatington man has been cited by Tamaqua Police following a traffic stop in the borough on Saturday.

Officers were on patrol at 1:20 a.m., on Center Street (SR309), when they observed a vehicle driving towards them without headlights. A traffic stop was made in the vicinity of the White Diner, SR309S. The driver was identified as Jeremy Turner, 23, of Slatington. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Robert Matthews, 21, of Germansville. Turner was given a portable breath test, which indicated a blood alcohol level of .159.During a search of the vehicle and its occupants, officers found a small quantity of suspected marijuana.Turner will be cited for DUI and driving without the required lights. Both men will be cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
