Lansford police have made a number of arrests recently.

Kyle Kehrli, 28, 233 W. Bertsch St., Lansford, faces charges after an incident which took place on Sept. 27 at Bertsch and Tunnel streets. Charges were filed by Officer Tom Fort. Kehrli is charged with three counts of DUI, stop signs and yield signs, careless driving, and driving under suspension, DUI-related.Kermit Sponheimer, 57, 151 W. Columbus Ave, Nesquehoning faces charges from an incident which took place on Sept. 18 near 149 W. Ridge St. Charges were filed by Officer Christopher M. Ondrus. Sponheimer is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.Amber Cambria, 20, 105 E. Bertsch St., faces charges from an incident which took place on May 15 near Water and Tunnel streets. Charges were filed by Officer Joshua Tom. Cambria is charged with aggravated assault (a felony), corruption of minors, two counts of simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct.Cody Sliker, 20, 44 Walnut St., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place on Sept. 21, 2008 at Patterson and Chestnut streets. Charges were filed by Officer Robert Shubeck. Sliker is charged with three counts of DUI, reckless driving, careless driving, and restraint systems.According to an affidavit of probable cause, Sliker was involved in a rear-end collision. Ambulance personnel told Shubeck that Sliker told them he had not slept for 28 hours. While checking within arm's reach of Sliker's car, Shubeck found a glass pipe wrapped in bubble wrap on the dashboard. The pipe is the type commonly used to smoke marijuana, Shubeck wrote. Paramedics told Shubeck upon their return from St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, that Sliker may have been under the influence because both pupils were dilated and he had a high heart rate.On Sept. 23, Sliker admitted to Shubeck that he had not slept for 28 hours before the accident and that he probably had fallen asleep at the wheel. He said the glass pipe was a gift for a friend and denied using drugs.However, a blood test taken shortly after the crash revealed the presence of marijuana at 14.6 ng/mL. The minimum detection limit is 5 ng/mL.John Vrablic, 30, 35 E. Abbott St., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place on Oct. 4, 2008 at Bertsch and Leisenring streets. Vrablic is charged with two counts of DUI and duties at stop signs.According to an affidavit of probable cause, Shubeck saw Vrablic's vehicle raveling east in the westbound lane of Bertsch Street and roll through a stop sign at Leisenring. Shubeck wrote that Vrablic was confused about the route of travel he took, his pupils were dilated, his eyes bloodshot and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his facial area. Vrablic failed field sobriety tests. A blood test showed Vrablic had a blood-alcohol level of 0.14 percent. The drunken driving threshold is 0.08 percent.Salvatore Canzoneri, 21, 75 E. Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning, faces charges from an incident which took place on May 12 near 26 E. Patterson Street. Charges were filed by Det. Sgt. Jack Soberick. Canzoneri is charged with two counts of DUI, resisting arrest, and persistent disorderly conduct.According to an affidavit of probable cause, Soberick wrote that he and Officer Joshua Tom were called to the scene at 6:12 p. m. There, fire Lt. Frank Marek told him that as fire apparatus, with its lights flashing, was being backed into the building after a call, a dark colored Jeep Cherokee went around other fire apparatus waiting to enter the garage, nearly striking the fire department's rescue truck head-on. Because of this driving maneuver, the Jeep was blocked in and its driver told to wait for police to arrive.Firefighter Mike Doerr gave Tom the keys to the Jeep, which he said he removed in order to keep the driver from fleeing and possibly endangering others as the driver "seemed out of it."Soberick and Tom spoke with the driver, who identified himself as Canzoneri and began cursing. Soberick told him to calm down and wrote that he smelled what appeared to be a moderate odor of marijuana as he spoke with Canzoneri.As Soberick spoke with firefighters, he could hear Canzoneri arguing with Tom and with Shubeck, who had just arrived. He spoke again with Canzoneri and noticed that his responses to questions were significantly delayed, he seemed not fully aware of his surroundings and that he seemed "out of it." Canzoneri continued to be belligerent and uncooperative even after being warned to desist, Soberick wrote. His behavior persisted in front of a large group of people that had gathered.At one point, Soberick wrote, Canzoneri said that since he was on probation on a weapons charge, he had no time for this and was "not going to get involved."Canzoneri was arrested and charged with persistent disorderly conduct and driving under the influence. But he continued to resist, bending his arms and pulling away from Soberick. Canzoneri failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, where a blood test showed the presence of marijuana, cocaine, an anti-anxiety drug, a cocaine metabolite and morphine.Jacob Canzoneri, 27, 75 E. Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning, faces charges from an incident which took place on Dec. 4, 2008. Charges were filed by Shubeck. Canzoneri is charged with six counts of DUI, meeting a vehicle proceeding in the opposite direction, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and stop signs and yield signs.According to an affidavit of probable cause, at 7:48 p. m., Shubeck and Soberick saw an oncoming car traveling in their lane. The car passed the cruiser and again crossed double yellow lines. They turned around and followed the car to the intersection of Patterson and Tunnel streets. The car's turn signal was on, and the officers saw the car drifting out into the intersection but not pulling out. When the car did pull out, the driver, identified as Canzoneri, accelerated rapidly as he made the left-hand turn. At Tunnel and Bertsch, he made a sudden stop well into the intersection, with the front of the vehicle doing a nose dive and the rear bumper lifting upward and remaining in that position. Canzoneri remained stopped in that exact position at the stop sign for almost a full minute with no other traffic in the area, Shubeck wrote. When Canzoneri pulled out onto Bertsch Street, he again accelerated rapidly, with no other traffic around.Shubeck pulled him over. Asked for his license and registration, Canzoneri had much difficulty locating it and could not produce anything Shubeck asked for. He spent several minutes looking for the items as Shubeck asked him questions aimed at determining his level of awareness. Shubeck asked him why he was in other lane of travel and Canzoneri said he was stopped at the stop sign. He wasn't responding appropriately to the questions he was asked. Observing Canzoneri's difficulty, Shubeck asked him for his driver's license only. As Shubeck waited, he watched as Canzoneri started fumbling with cash in his hands and appeared to be counting it as if he didn't realize he was supposed to be looking for his license. He opened up other pieces of paper that a person in a clear state of mind would know was not a driver's license.Canzoneri's cheeks were flushed, his eyes bloodshot and his pupils dilated, Shubeck observed.William Watto, 43, 219 E. Ridge St., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place on Feb. 5, 2009 near his residence. Charges were filed by Soberick. Watto is charged with three counts of DUI, duties at stop signs, careless driving, possession of a controlled substance, namely cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.Jeffrey Zellner, 50, 206 W. Patterson St., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place on Dec. 24, 2008 on E. Patterson St. Charges were filed by Shubeck. Zellner is charged with two counts of DUI.According to an affidavit of probable cause, Shubeck saw a black ford F-350 Dually pickup truck two adjacently parked vehicles in the 700 block of East Patterson Street and come to a stop from the impact. Shubeck asked the driver what happened, and he responded that he just slid off the road. The driver was identified as Zellner. While talking with Zellner, Shubeck noticed a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his facial area. Zellner admitted to drinking alcohol at a friend's house and said that's where he was coming from.Zellner consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was taken to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, where a blood test showed his alcohol level was 0.15 percent.
