Happy winners

The Adult Day Service Center of the Blue Mountain Health Systems celebrated National Adult Day Services Week and to encourage physical activity it held its own Olympics. This year's winners are, from left, Karoline Pohanka (ring toss), Arlene Bowers (horseshoes), Jamy Green (washer toss), Delano Strohl (ball darts), Helen Wanamaker (wash cloth folding). The other winners were: Grace Bonser (bean bags), Lorraine Andreas (sock throw), Lucy Rossell (tennis ball bounce), Isilder Davy (football), Sharlee Hawk (basketball), Catherine Pancoast (chicken chuck) and Betty Scott (frisbee). They were awarded a certificate and lottery scratch off tickets and treated to a hot dog picnic with Jell-O parfaits. Friday was also World Alzheimer's Day and most of the folks wore purple in observance, said Alicia Lewis, LIC. "We held the events all week long and they cheered for each other. It got them all up doing some form of physical activity, which is so important," said Denise Schneck, program assistant.
