Revenue from deeds
Carbon County Recorder of Deeds Emmett P. McCall reported his office recorded 195 deeds, 253 mortgages and 458 other writs during the month of April.
As a result of those transactions, McCall turned over to the Carbon County General Fund the sum of $31,370.97. A breakdown of that revenue includes: transfer fees, $26,579.50; data processing fees, $1,540; notaries, $50; commission on transfers and writs, $2,014.67; and Affordable Housing administrative fee, $1,186.80.
McCall remitted $453 in state writ taxes to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, while Carbon County municipalities and school districts shared realty transfer tax disbursements totaling $99,615.89, the same amount that was forwarded to the state in realty transfer taxes.
McCall deposited $2,712 in the Recorder of Deeds Record Improvement Fund and $1,808 in the Carbon County Records Improvement Fund, these being fees assessed by state law on each transaction for records management needs. An additional $19,528.50as collected and remitted to the state for its Judicial Computer System program.
Also, $6,725.20 was collected last month for the Affordable Housing Program in Carbon County.
In all, funds collected in the Recorder's office last month amounted to $261,829.45.
Confession of judgment
First National Bank of Pennsylvania, 2871 Route 611, Tannersville, filed an action against Michael W. and Sandra J. Hadzick, 2598 S. Lehigh Gorge Drive, Weatherly, as a confession of judgment for an alleged default on a loan. Sought is $170,629.39 plus interest, costs, and fees.
A second action was filed by the bank against Heritage Granite & Marble, of the same address as the defendants above, seeking the same amount.
