The Asa Packer Mansion Museum in Jim Thorpe was the scene of a visit by dignitaries of the Lions Club International who were impressed by the local historic landmark.

Dr. Eugene Spiess, Past International Director Lions Club International and others visited there in conjunction with the District 14U convention which was being hosted by District Governor Angie Mims in Wilkes-Barre.

In summing up his visit there, Dr. Spiess exclaimed "In my travels as International Director, we get to see many Lions Club projects all over the world.

"We have never seen a Lion's Club project like this property where the Club has adopted a historic home as their project and maintained it.

"The community of Jim Thorpe should be very proud of the Lions Club and what they do here and they should really appreciate the great works they do."

To that, Executive Director of the Asa Packer Mansion Museum, Ron Sheehan added "The Jim Thorpe Lions Club is always proud of what they do here at the Asa Packer Mansion.

"Its really nice when we get to open it to dignitaries within our own organization, such as the District Governor and a Past International Director.

"Its really something impressive, we're very grateful to them for coming and sharing the day with us.

"We're very honored the the Past International Director and his wife were able to be here with us today."

In finishing, Sheehan added "We look forward to opening the home for the regular season."
