Four Jim Thorpe youths attend Rotary leadership academy

As a participant in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), the Rotary Club of Jim Thorpe has a history of sending students from Jim Thorpe Area High School and Carbon Career and Technical Institute (CCTI) to a Rotary Youth Leadership Academy.

This year was no exception as four students spent a week at the leadership camp held at Keystone College in LaPlume, Pa.The students described their experiences at a recent Rotary Club meeting held at Crave Restaurant at 66 Broadway in Jim Thorpe.Along with building new friendships they learned about developing a better attitude for leadership and building their confidence.RYLA Coordinator Randall Smith said that the Rotary Club of Jim Thorpe has a proud history in sending local students to the leadership camps."Many other Rotary Clubs choose not to send students, but we've made a commitment to our youths and this is part of our youth commitment," Smith said.
