Joe Arpaio, one of the nation's most outspoken opponents of illegal immigration, has been called "America's Toughest Sheriff."

The editorial board of The New York Times, meanwhile, calls him "America's Worst Sheriff."Whether you're an admirer or critic of the Arizona sheriff, it is a fact is he's not about to back down against anyone, and that includes the president of the United States.Last week, Arpaio unveiled the preliminary findings of an investigation by members of his volunteer cold-case posse, into the authenticity of President Barrack Obama's birth certificate. This ongoing controversy has been widely dismissed by Democrats, members of the Obama administration and liberals as just one more example of a "right-wing conspiracy." After a barrage of questions about the president's citizenship from Donald Trump, Obama released a copy of his long-form birth certificate last year. The courts also have rebuffed lawsuits over the issue.Conservative doubters, however, who liberals mockingly refer to as "Birthers," still contend that Obama is hiding something. If the president's American birth certificate is a fake, it would make him ineligible to hold the country's highest elected office.Arpaio said he was not surprised by the way in which last week's press conference began. There were snickers from the audience, a tone established by the liberal media which played the event as just another dog and pony show manufactured by a right-wing conspiracy loony bird. But when a picture of Obama's Selective Service Card came up on the screen, Arpaio said "you could hear a pin drop."Sheriff's investigators suspect the form, which was allegedly filled out in Honolulu in 1980, may be a forgery. Among the inconsistencies on the form is an unusually incomplete date stamp. The date stamp which should read "1980" only says "08."Arpaio claims his team "got tons of other information" that could be very shocking to the American people, but he's sticking with just the forgery investigation and possible criminal violations.Although dismissed by liberals as a loose cannon, Arpaio continues to make Obama's past an issue that he feels should be of concern to every American. Even Catholic Online reported that Arpaio's probe revealed that there was probable cause to believe Obama's long-form birth certificate released by the White House in April is a computer-generated forgery.Arpaio is still waiting for a response from the Selective Service which, unfortunately, is ultimately under the control of the president. Needless to say, the sheriff won't be holding his breath on getting any cooperation from the White House.More than one White House pundit has said that this president is protective of his image and doesn't take any kind of criticism very well. That hasn't discouraged Arpaio from his relentless challeneges against the administration."I'm not going after Obama," said Arpaio, who has criticized the president's administration for cutting off his federal immigration powers and conducting a civil rights investigation of his office. "I'm just doing my job."If his allegations are true, it will expose one of greatest scandals in presidential history.One fact about Joe Arpaio is that he pulls no punches and what you see is what you get.
