A woman was taken to the hospital via ambulance just after 10 p.m. Wednesday after losing control of her car and crashing into the woods while traveling south from Lansford into Coaldale on SR209.

Bobbi Kulaga, 41, of Lansford, the only person in the vehicle, was able to get out of the vehicle prior to the emergency response.Just before crashing into the woods, Kulaga drove over a yellow sharp turn traffic sign and also completely destroyed the large "Welcome to Coaldale" sign. Firefighters had to use chainsaws to free the car, a blue 2009 Mitsubishi Galant, from the wooded area.Responding were Coaldale police and fire company, and Lansford and Lehighton ambulances. Fire police closed that section of SR209 until it was cleared. It was also reported that Kulaga had the vehicle for only a few weeks. Patrolman Scott Cramer is the investigating.
