Matthew Thornton, 20, of Birdsboro, was arrested by Slatington police at 7:02 p.m. June 6 after police made a traffic stop at South Walnut and Lehigh streets for motor vehicle code violations.

He was arraigned on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while his operating privileges are suspended. He was also issued a citation for failure to use a seat belt.After his arraignment, Thornton was committed to the Lehigh County prison, Allentown.
