A Monroe County driver is facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and hit-and-run following an incident that occurred about 4:28 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, along SR940 at Oak St., in Mt. Pocono.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers responded to a report of a crash in which one of the drivers fled the scene. Police learned that a green Ford pickup truck turned left in front of a vehicle driven by Jillian Chiappone, 26, of Scotrun. After the collision the driver of the truck fled.A description of the truck was given at the scene by witnesses and a short time later officers spotted the truck along SR196 in Tobyhanna and made a traffic stop.The driver was identified as Edward Jaworski, 65, of Tobyhanna. He showed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest for suspected DUI. He was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, where he submitted to a blood test.Police said charges will be filed.
