Franklin Township Police Chief Thomas Beltz is investigating a one-car accident that took place around 7:35 a.m. today at 657 Pohopoco Drive in Franklin Township. Police said that the driver of the car was Jason Wuermuth, no age or address available at the scene. Wuermuth appeared to be uninjured following the crash. The Dodge Avenger that he was driving was demolished. Wuermuth hit a pole and took down utility wires at the Roeseler property. Firefighters believed the wires were Verizon wires. Power lines were across the street from the crash. Wuermuth's air bag deployed during the crash. Assisting police at the scene were Franklin Township firefighters and fire police. Lehighton Ambulance did check Wuermuth for injuries.
