3 Tamaqua girls injured

Three young females, who police said were all from Tamaqua, were injured Wednesday evening, two seriously, in a one car crash along Lentz Trail in Summit Hill. The crash occurred just after 7:30 p.m. as the driver was operating her car west and apparently lost control. The car skid for a long distance before crossing the roadway and sliding down an embankment. The front seat and back seat passengers were treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics then flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. The driver was treated at the scene and transported to an area hospital. Summit Hill fire police closed down the road during the rescue operation and police investigation. The Summit Hill Fire Company responded to the scene and later set up a landing zone at boat launch B at Mauch Chunk Lake Park for the incoming helicopters.
