Holden announces 3 Schuylkill Co. grants

U.S. Congressman Tim Holden (D-17th), announced that three areas of Schuylkill County will receive Rural Development grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

New Philadelphia ($32,560), Gilberton ($40,250), and Blythe Township Municipal Authority ($19,340) will all use the funds to purchase new dump trucks that are equipped with plows and spreaders.These vehicles will provide for safe and reliable transportation, especially during times of inclement or snowy weather, for routine maintenance and repair projects. They will be replacing vehicles that are over 10 years old and have become hard to maintain.USDA Rural Development aims to help improve the economy and quality of life in rural America. Their programs support such essential public facilities and services as water and sewer systems, housing, health clinics, emergency service facilities and electric and telephone service.
