State police at Frackville reported on two crashes probed by troopers on Tuesday, Dec. 6, both in the same area.

Troopers said 17-year-old male from Shenandoah was operating a 1998 Saturn SC2 northbound about 5:55 p.m. and negotiating a left curve when he lost control and struck the guard rail. He was not injured. Troopers cited him for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.

The second crash occurred a few moments later as Ashley Ferrari, 23, of Mahanoy City, was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound in the right lane and approaching traffic that was slowing for the first crash. She hit her brakes which caused her to lose control.

The Cobalt struck the guard rail on the west berm. Ferrari and her passenger, Jeremy Honushefsky, 27, of Mahanoy City, were not injured. Troopers cited Ferrari for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
