Charges filed after Schuylkill incident

An incident that began in a bar and ended up at a nearby home resulted in criminal charges being filed against the participants and the jailing of one suspect. State police at Frackville said the incident began about 3 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 6, at Andrews tavern in Sheppton and ended up at 955 Center St., Sheppton, East Union Township. Troopers gave the following account of what happended.

While in the bar an argument started when Michael Paul Richards, 21, of Oneida, attempted to kiss Alyssa Audrey Emmert, 18, of Sheppton, who is the girlfriend of Brian Mark Furedi Jr., 21, of the above Sheppton address. Furedi and Emmert then left the bar and started walking to his home and was followed by Richards.An argument continued outside Furedi's home and it escalated when Keilli Johnson, 21, of Nuremberg, who is Richards' girlfriend, and Letizia A. Schianodicola, 18, also of Nuremberg, arrived in her vehicle. Both exited the car and grabbed Emmert and slammed her against another vehicle. Furedi pulled the two girls off Ememrt. Furedi and Emmert then tried to run into the enclosed porch area of Furedi's home.Furedi was then attacked from behind by Richards inside the porch area. Zachary Johnson, 21, of Nuremberg, stepped in and pulled Richards off of Furedi. Fearing for their safety, Furedi ran inside his home and returned with a shotgun. He fired three shots into the ground to scare off the others.Furedi was injured and taken to the Hazleton General Hospital by Nuremberg ambulance for treatment of a possible broken shoulder, a bloody mouth, head contusions and some loose teeth.Richards was arrested on assault and related counts and arraigned before duty District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon. He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post 10 percent of $25,000 bail.Kelli Johnson and Schianodicola were both charged with harassment, troopers said.
