Concourse Club names Guiding Stars

The Concourse Club of Palmerton will be honoring five Guiding Stars from the Palmerton Area School District.

The Guiding Stars were chosen by a committee of teachers and staff from the Palmerton Area School District. A Guiding Star must be a female student in the top 25 percent of the senior class, who is actively involved in school activities as well as community activities.Each Guiding Star will receive a certificate and Guiding Star charm. One of the five Guiding Stars will receive a $500 scholarship in May.In March, the Concourse Club honored two young ladies as Guiding Stars: Jessica Fegley and Stephanie Gursky.Jessica is the daughter of Kenneth and Cherie Fegley. Her hobbies and talents are the martial arts, gardening, cooking and reading.Her school activities include National Honor Society (president), Leo Club (secretary), Environmental Club and Courtyard Renovation leader.Her community activities include Special Olympics, Relay For Life, Earth Day clean up and Beltzville Discover E Program.Jessica plans to attend Penn State University for a five-year program in landscape architecture.Stephanie is the daughter of Tracey and Randolph Gursky. Her hobbies include hiking and reading.At school she is active in field hockey, and is a pole-vaulter.She is also student council president, a member of the National Honor Society, Student Forum and is on the yearbook.In the community she is active in her Girl Scout troop.Her future plans include attending Penn State University to major in secondary education.
