Shots fired, 3 men arrested after Emmaus bank robbery

EMMAUS, Pa. (AP) - Police arrested three men suspected of trying to rob a bank in northeast Pennsylvania Thursday, after they exchanged shots while trying to get away.

Emmaus Sgt. Karl Geschwindt told The Express-Times of Easton Thursday that Issah J. Sampson and Edward Anthony Maye, both of Allentown, were captured and arrested shortly after the robbery just after 9 a.m. at KNBT Bank. A third suspect, Hishamu T. Curry, of Philadelphia, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. in Allentown.He told the paper that police were fired on by the suspects as they pursued them in the morning, but no officers were hurt and a pair of semiautomatic weapons were recovered.Police said the bank's assistant manager was pistol-whipped by one of the suspects but the injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening.Sampson faces charges of criminal intent to commit homicide, aggravated assault on a police officer, robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery and felon not to possess firearms.
