A Lehighton woman escaped serious injury Monday morning when her car impacted with and snapped off a utility pole along state route 902 in Mahoning Township. The woman was traveling east when she apparently lost control of her car and struck the pole. Utility wires came down within inches off the roadway, while the pole was left swinging in the heavy winds. Responding was the Mahoning Township Fire Company. Mahoning Township police are investigating the mishap. The roadway was closed for several hours.
