New Ringgold man charged

A New Ringgold man has been cited by Tamaqua Police after running a red light in the borough on Aug. 2.

Richard Lehr Jr., 41, of 293 Blue Mountain Rd., New Ringgold, was driving a a Dodge pick up truck south on Center Street when officers on patrol noticed him fail to stop for a red light. Officers initiated a traffic stop and noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from Lehr. He was given, and failed, field sobriety tests.Lehr's blood alcohol content was determined to be .28 percent, more than three times the legal limit of .08.In addition to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while under DUI related suspension, Lehr was also charged with receiving stolen property after officers determined the television in the back seat, which Lehr bought earlier that morning from Jeremy Plasko of Tamaqua for $20, was actually owned by Carmillo Sotomayer of Tamaqua.
