State police at Frackville reported investigating a burglary at a Schuylkill County residence this week.

Troopers said the home of Kandi Cope, W. Main St., Girardville, was entered sometime on Tuesday, July 19, between 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Removed from the home was a Nintendo Wii, prescription medication, jewelry and a Winchester 30-30 rife.

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred on Sunday, July 17.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said Theresa Marchiano, 49, of Pocono Lake, was stopped about 2:33 a.m. along SR940, west of Stoney Hollow, in Pocono Lake, Tobyhanna Township, for a vehicle code violation.

At the stop officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Marchiano. She failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, where she submitted to a blood test.

A Palmerton man has been cited in Slatington.

Borough police said about 1:47 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, they were called to the 500 block of Main St. for a unwanted person.

As a result of an investigation Ryan Smith, 19, of 132 AVenue A., was cited for prohibited offensive weapon and simple assault.

State police at Lehighton reported investigating two burglaries – one in which all terrain vehicles (ATV) were stolen and one where considerable damage was done to the home.

The break-in involving the ATVs occurred at the property of Walter Hill, HC1 Box 74, Mountain Road, in Saylorsburg, Ross Township, Monroe County. Entry was gained to the property by unknown means sometime between 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, and 7 a.m. Thursday. Several out buildings on the property were entered.

Removed was a 2007 Kawasaki, red in color, and a 2008 Suzuki King quad.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a burglary and theft at a Schuylkill County business.

Troopers said the Uni-Mart Exxon service station, located at 1618 SR61, in North Manheim Township, was entered about 1:33 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20. Unknown criminals smashed the front glass entry door to gain entry.

Stolen was several packets of synthetic marijuana.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 593-2000.

A Tamaqua driver was involved in a two vehicle crash in which the other driver was charged.

State police at Frackville said Heather M. Haupt, of Shamokin, was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer along SR1013, just east of the Lakeside Ballroom in Ryan Township, about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30. She stopped for a stop sign at the intersection with SR54.

State police at Hazleton reported an arrest made in a theft incident that occurred in Carbon County.

Paul Moon, no age or address given, was charged with the theft, troopers said. It is alleged that Moon removed several pieces of scrap metal – cast iron grates –from the property of the Vogel Bus Company, located along Quakake Road, in Packer Township.

Troopers said video surveillance captured the incident which was occurred on Sunday, July 17, about 6:23 p.m.

A pending divorce action involving a Schuylkill County man got messy earlier this week.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Heather Ann Wagner, 36, of Cherry Hill, N.J., went to the home of her estranged husband, Norman Ralph Wanger Jr., 38, of Washington St., Auburn, to serve him divorce papers. She arrived at the home about 1:33 p.m. on Sunday, July 17.

State police at Lehighton are investigating incidents in which obscene images were painted on a church and several homes in Monroe County.

The Middle Creek Christian Church, located at 343 Dorshimer Road, in Polk Township, was spray painted with the obscene images. The criminals also smashed a statue, attempted to smash a door and tore out plants and shrubs. The incident occurred overnight of Tuesday, July 19, into Wednesday.

Lehighton police have charged a Palmerton man with public drunkenness.

Andrew Tyahla, 41, of 245 Avenue B, was cited at 1 a.m. Sunday, July 17, after an incident on the Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Blvd.
