Kayla Lesisko, daughter of Thomas Lesisko and Mary K. Mulligan-Lesisko, granddaughter of Margaret (Midge) Mulligan and the late John Mulligan, Mary Lesisko and the late William (Perk) Lesisko, has received her Master of Science in Applied Educational Psychology, School Psychology from the Graduate School of Bouve' College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University, Boston Massachusetts on September 2, 2010.

Army Pvt. Kevin R. Booth has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

He is the son of Colleen Booth of Hahns Dairy Road, Palmerton.

Navy Seaman Danielle R. Ketels, daughter of Ann Ketels of Staten Island, N. Y. and Joseph A. Ketels, of Kunkletown, recently reported for duty at Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center, Virginia Beach, Va.

Ketels is a 2006 graduate of Tottenville High School of Staten Island, N. Y. and joined the Navy Reserve in July 2010.

Air National Guard Airman Bryant B. Gebhard graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of AnnMaire and Herbert Gebhard of LaMontage Drive, Palmerton.

Bechtel

Each month during the school year, the Rotary Club of Slatington honors top senior students from Northern Lehigh High School as student observers.

Scott Bechtel has been selected as the student observer for the month of October. He is the son of Jack and JoAnn Bechtel of Slatington.

Scott is ranked in the top 10 of his class and is the president of both the Northern Lehigh Interact Club and the Assumption BVM Youth Group. He also participates is Soccer, where he was a co-captain of this year's varsity team, and Track & Field.

Navy Seaman Danielle B. Ketels, daughter of Ann Ketels of Staten Island, N. Y. and Joseph A. Ketels, of Kunkletown, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Ketels completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Marine Corps Pfc. Daniel T. Olenick, son of Kelly Olenick of Germansville, and Eugene T. Olenick, of Schnecksville, recently graduated from the Marine Corps Basic Combat Engineer Course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N. C.

During the five-week course, Olenick received instruction in the fundamentals of engineering support for combat units, including the procedures for building and repairing bridges, roads and field fortifications. Olenick also received training on demolition concepts, land mine warfare and camouflage techniques.

The National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) announced that Susan M. Generose, RD, CDE, LDN, Clinical Dietitian, Blue Mountain Health System, has renewed the Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) status by successfully completing the continuing option process. Candidates must meet rigorous eligibility requirements to be eligible for certification. Achieving the CDE credential demonstrates to people with diabetes and employers that the healthcare professional possesses distinct and specialized knowledge, thereby promoting quality of care for people with diabetes.

Vack

Andrew Vack, son of Larry and Teresa Vack, Weatherly, has been named Senior of the Month for September at Weatherly High School.

Vack is a member of the Weatherly Area High School chapter of the National Honor Society, the Cross Country and Soccer teams and the Wrecker Band and Jazz Band. He is active in TATU, the Envirothon, the Citizen Bee, Science Olympiad, Student Forum and the AMC Mathematics Competition.
