Marcey Lynn(Muffley) Goodbred, daughter of Clarence and Linda Muffley of Lehighton, received her B.S.N. during the commencement ceremony held at Moravian College in Bethlehem on May 15. A nursing pinning ceremony was held May 14 at the college, where Marcey's father was given the honor of pinning his daughter.

Sherry A. Akins of Tamaqua, recently completed studies from The International Sports Science Association where she majored in Certified Fitness Trainer and earned a 4.0 grade point average.

Akins has also recently completed graduate studies from Stratford Career Institute with highest honors in the fields of Natural Health Consultant with a 97 grade point average and the Psychology/Social Work field with a 95 grade point average and the Private Investigator field with a 96 grade point average and Health and Fitness with a 94 grade point average.

John Geguzis, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Geguzis Jr., Weatherly, has been named Senior of the Month of May at Weatherly High School.

Geguzis is a member of the Scholastic Scrimmage team and the Interact Club. He is asenior member of the stage crew with the high school drama club.

In the community, Geguzis has been involved in Senior Games through the Interact Club, and has volunteered his time with the Eurana Park clean up.

Lauren E. Romano graduated May 15 from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa. with a doctorate of physical therapy degree. She is also a 2008 cum laude graduate of Lebanon Valley with a bachelor of science in health science degree, and a 2004 honor graduate of Pottsville Area School District.

Dr. Romano is employed by Physical Therapy Associates of Manheim in the Lebanon and Hershey offices.

She is the daughter of Christopher and Donna Romano. Grandparents are Ruth Smulligan, Tamaqua, and former Hometown residents, Angelo and Diane Romano, Mt. Holly Springs.

Kelsey Hunsicker, daughter of Kevin and Cindy Hunsicker of Lehighton, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Penn State University, University Park, with a GPA of 3.81.

She is currently majoring in kinesiology and plans on attending graduate school for physical therapy. She just completed her freshman year.

She is a 2009 graduate of Lehighton Area High School.

Matthew Price, son of Jody and Lisa Price of Coaldale, graduated from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre with a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Commencement exercises were held May 22. Price is a 2006 graduate of Marian Catholic High School, Hometown.

Alexandra Wargo Nichols of Penn Forest Township, Jim Thorpe, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at University of the Sciences Philadelphia.

Students achieving this status must have attained a semester GPA of 3.40 or above. Alexandra's course of study is health sciences with an emphasis in the physician assistant program.
