Two sons of Joe and Jackie DeAngelo of Coaldale made the dean's list at their respective colleges for the fall 2010 semester.

John was named to the dean's list at Muhlenberg College, Allentown. He is a senior majoring in accounting and is a 2007 graduate of Marian Catholic High School.

Michael has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Shippensburg University. He is a junior majoring in mathematics with a secondary education certification concentration, and is a 2008 graduate of Marian Catholic High School.

Nicole Cox of Nesquehoning attained Dean's List at Kutztown University. Her GPA was 4.0for the Fall semester of her senior year.

She will graduate in May with a degree in Elementary Education, concentrating in reading.

She is a 2007 Panther Valley graduate.Her parents are John and Holly McCole and Bill and Tammy Weaver, all of Nesquehoning.

Nathan and Kristen Halenar of Summit Hill have both been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Penn State University's University Park, Main Campus.

Nathan, a senior majoring in secondary education, citizenship, achieved a 3.52 GPA. He is a 2007 graduate of Marian Catholic High School and will be student teaching for the spring semester at Pottsville High School.

Kristen, a freshman majoring in nursing, acquired a 3.63 GPA. She is a 2010 graduate of Marian Catholic.

Tamaqua Area High School Principal RuthAnn Gardiner has announced the school's Students of the Month for December.

The recipients are senior Kolby Mashackl, junior Suzie Arner, sophomore Hannah Miller and freshman Dustin Silkowski.

Kolby Mashack is the son of Jon and Sheila Mashack.

He is a member of the Chemistry Club, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and the wrestling team.

He plans to attend Bucknell University to major in biology/pre-medicine and continue his wrestling career.

Suzie Arner is the daughter of David and Colleen Arner.

Tucker

Andrew Tucker, son of John and Lisa Tucker of Lansford, has been named to the Dean's List for the Fall semester at Misericordia University.

A 2010 graduate of Panther Valley High School, Tucker is majoring in Physical Therapy with a minor in Health Management.

A member of the Misericordia Track and Field Team, he participates in the shot put, discus and hammer throw.

Andrew is the grandson of Mary Tucker of Lansford and the late Edward Tucker and Bill and Sara Doris of Tamaqua.

Lucas Herman of Jim Thorpe graduated from Coastal Carolina University, Conway, S.C., on Dec. 11 with a master of business administration.

Ceremonies were held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
