Argall

Elise Argall, daughter of Dave and Beth Argall of Lake Hauto, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in international relations with a minor in near east languages and civilization.

While at Penn, the 2009 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School served as vice chair of the Student Committee on Undergraduate Education, interned with the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security and volunteered with the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project. During a semester abroad in Rabat, Morocco, she completed courses in intermediate Arabic.

Cinicola

Zachary Cinicola of West Penn Township has graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. He received a bachelor of science degree in environmental biology. He is a 2009 graduate of Marian Catholic High School.

During his junior and senior year at Lock Haven, Cinicola interned at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center in Slatington. He completed two independent study projects, one using GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and another related to substrate movements in stream flow, during his senior year.

Hodge

Airman Shawn Hodge, son of Colleen Hodge, Junedale and Michael Hodge of Tamaqua, respectfully has deployed to Asan, South Korea.

He has completed six years of a twelve-year enlistment and previously served six months in Iraq.

Hodge holds various medals, employed by Ammunitions Control and also holds a military vehicle license.

He is currently in flight training and will also resume his studies in criminal justice.

His family prayerfully awaits his homecoming.

The following area students have been named to the dean's list at Franklin & Marshall College for the spring 2013 semester.

Ÿ Sarah Gardner, who is the daughter of Michael Gardner, Lehighton, and is a graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory School.

Ÿ Frank Hall who is the son of Frank Hall and Theresa Hall, Palmerton, and is a graduate of Palmerton Area High School.

A student earns dean's list recognition for achieving a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Allison Houle, Walnutport, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Columbia College Chicago. She is an arts management major.

To be named to the dean's list at Columbia College Chicago, students must have taken at least 12 credit hours and have a 3.75 grade point average or above for that semester.

Brown

Lillian Kay Brenda Brown has been named a United States National Honor Student Award winner for academic achievement. She will appear in the United States Achievement Academy's yearbook, which is published nationally.

"Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than every before in America's history," says Dr. George Stevens, founder of the United States Achievement Academy. "United States Achievement Academy winners should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement."

Willet

Mallory S. Willet, the daughter of Gregory and Julie Willet of Lehighton, graduated summa cum laude from Thomas Jefferson University on May 30 with a master of science in microbiology and a concentration in recognizing and controlling infectious diseases.

During her college career, Willet joined the laboratory of well-known virologist at Jefferson, Dr. Matthias J. Schnell, where she developed a dual vaccine for rabies and Ebola viruses for use in developing countries.

Robert Franklin Guth IV, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Franklin Guth III, graduated from Northampton Community College in 2012. He recently received his funeral director's license, after a one-year internship in Muncy, Pa.

He is now working full-time and living in the Muncy area.
