Karen E. McKeever Cholakis of Potomac Falls, Va., graduated recently from George Washington University in Washington D.C. on May 16 with a masters degree in business and education with a GPA of 3.85. She is employed by the university as an administrative manager in information systems and technology management. Karen is the daughter of Thomas J. McKeever and the late Joan A. McKeever of Nesquehoning.

DALLAS, Pa. - The Misericordia University Physical Therapy Department recently acknowledged the academic accomplishments of its top students, which included John Danchak, Jr., of Albrightsville, and Jamie Clemson, of Nesquehoning, during the institution's annual Honors Awards Ceremony at Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall.

Danchak and Clemson were each awarded the Catherine Perry Wilkinson Leadership Award, which is given to a graduating student who demonstrates exemplary potential for leadership in the profession.

Several local students graduated from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa., at its 140th Commencement Exercises held on May 15.

Chelsea Louise Kemmerer of Lehighton graduated with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She did her clinical work at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in the emergency department. She plans to travel and look for a nursing position on a behavioral health or emergency room floor.

Amanda Faust, daughter of Larry and Debbie Faust of Barnesville, has been named to the dean's list for the Spring 2010 semester at Delaware Valley College, in Doylestown.

She achieved a 4.0 average.

Faust will be a junior year student in the fall, majoring in environmental science and minoring in biology.

She is a 2008 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School.

Caitlin Lesko, daughter of Joseph and Sharon Lesko of Weatherly, has been named Weatherly High School's Senior of the Month for April.

Lesko serves as her class secretary and as the secretary of the high school chorus. She is a member of the girl's varsity basketball and softball teams, the National Honor Society, Partners in Education, Science Olympiad, the Student Forum and the Spanish National Honor Society. Additionally, she was the recipient of the Times Leader's Best and Brightest Award, winning in the Arts category.

Kimberly Walker Arendt made the executive director's list "Dean's List" at Lincoln Technical Institute, Allentown, Pa., with a 4.0 GPA in medical assisting. She is a 2004 graduate of Palmerton High School. She is the wife of Gary Arendt and mother of Marley Arendt. She is the daughter of Rick and Michele Plocinik and the late Robert Walker and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Pavlik, Mrs. Bernice Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Plocinik; and sister of Elissa Plocinik. She will be graduating in September 2010.

Caitlin Faust, daughter of Jim and Mary Beth Faust, Barnesville, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2010 semester at Shippensburg University with a 3.95 grade-point average.

She has completed her sophomore year and is majoring in elementary education.

Faust is a 2008 graduate of Marian High School.

Brandon White of Lansford was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at King's College with a GPA of 3.813. His cumulative GPA is 3.839.

White is the son of Jenn McMichael of Lansford and the grandson of Bill and Mary McMichael of Hauto. He is majoring in accounting.

High Honors: average of 90 percent or above with no grade lower than an 86 percent in a major subject.
