Nick Yelito, son of David Yelito of Coaldale and Diane Miller of Indiana, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Moravian College, Bethlehem. To earn dean's list status, students must carry a minimum of three course units per term and maintain a 3.50 or higher grade point average.

Army National Guard Spec. Stephannie N. Richards is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to Iraqi or Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom, respectively.

The soldiers return to Fort Dix, N.J. for debriefing, evaluations and out-processing procedures before returning to their regularly assigned Army Reserve or National Guard units.

The specialist served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Iraq Theater of Operations.

Sander

Derek A. Sander, Bowmans-town, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2009 semester at Lehigh Carbon Community College.

On Sunday, Feb. 28, he was inducted into the Alpha Omicron Alpha chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for two-year colleges.

His outstanding academic record at LCCC made him eligible to join this prestigious organization.

Derek plans to continue his education at a four-year college, where he will major in elementary education.

Hai-Lung Dai, dean of The College of Science and Technology at Temple University, announces that Matthew Buchman of Palmerton was named to the dean's list for the 2009 fall semester at The College of Science and Technology at Temple University.

To earn dean's list status, a student must have a 3.57 GPA or better for the semester.

Army National Guard Pvt. Paul F. Katona III has graduated from the Direct Fire Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training.

Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Ryan M. DeWire has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 528th Finance Detachment, based in Lebanon.

The soldiers are normally activated from Army Reserve or Army National Guard units from throughout the U.S. They go through a series of in-processing procedures and training classes that prepare them for skills and situations they may face in their deployed environment.
