American Red Cross Blood Drives

There will be a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Getz Personal Care Home, located on Route 534 in Jonas.

The Red Cross will hold another blood drive from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at Cornerstone Community Church located at 338 Polk Township Road in Kresgeville.

As a bonus, all presenting donors during the month of March will be eligible to win a $250 VISA gift card.

All presenting donors at these two drives will receive a free 16 ounce clear, double wall tumbler with a straw.

Lenten services

Effort UMC will using a study book and DVD by Adam Hamilton called Final Words from the Cross. The evening will begin with soup and salad at 5:15, followed by the study from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. in Wesley Hall. Immediately after the study, folks will move up to the sanctuary for the Lenten service from 7 to 7:30 p.m.

Movie and lunch

St. Matthew's UCC's CIA will host a free Christian movie and covered dish lunch at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, March 16.

Anyone is invited to attend in fellowship. Please bring a covered dish to share for lunch.

Lenten service

St. Matthew's UCC will host the community Lenten service, 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 19. The guest preacher will be provided by Salem UCC.

There will be a soup and sandwich dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Laymen's Fellowship will provide the soup and desserts. Bring your own sandwich.

Hunter Trapper

Education Class

Pennsylvania Game Commission's Hunter Trapper Education Class will be sponsored by Indian Mt Rod & Gun Club, located on Route 534, Kresgeville, on Saturday, April 5 from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

You must register online at pgc.state.pa.us/.

Class size is limited and the minimum age requirement is 11 years old. The certification earned is required by Pennsylvania law for first time hunters.

Bird feeders made

Forty-two kids and many adults made bird feeders from pinecones at the Chestnuthill Township Park on Saturday, Feb. 22. Pictures are posted on the group website.

Relay for Life

Pleasant Valley High School, Brodheadsville, will again be the site for the West End Relay for Life being held May 31-June 1. Activities begin at 10 a.m.

Zion Noiz, the team from Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville, will be one of the many participating team.

Salem St. Paul's Lutheran Church

Salem St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Trach Drive, Kresgeville, is hosting the Soup supper for Lent on March 12. Volunteers are needed to help make soup that day and to bring desserts that night. A sign-up sheet is located outside the church office. Guest pastor for this service is Bill Ellsworth

A fair meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18.

Blood drive

A Red Cross blood drive will be held at Cornerstone Community Church from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 25. Walk-ins are welcome and appointments are always encouraged.

Ash Wednesday

Safe Haven

A meeting of Safe Haven Dog Rescue volunteers will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at Cherry's Sunset Restaurant, Route 209, Kresgeville.

Volunteers are needed to help with adoption days, fundraising, transporting dogs to vets and groomers and fostering homeless dogs until they find their forever homes.

Lenten Bible Study

Effort United Methodist Church's pastor will host a six-week Lenten Bible Study entitled, Final Words from the Cross. The study will be held each Wednesday, from March 5 through April 9, in Wesley Hall.

Soup & salad will be served from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m., with the study running from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. A sign-up sheet is in the Welcome Center. Today is the last day to register.

Lenten services will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. following the Bible Study, commencing with Ash Wednesday, March 5.

Chestnut Ridge Seniors

The Chestnut Ridge Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27 at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company. Bring a bag lunch. They will have a Chinese auction.

Exercising seniors

There is a low-impact exercise class for those over 55 from 9:30-10:30 a.m., every Tuesday and Thursday at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company.
