Pleasant Valley Elementary School will hold its Principal Advisory Committee meeting from 7-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb 24, in the school cafeteria.

Receives affirmation

Ken Edwards, Brodheadsville, was affirmed by the Northeast District Committee on Ministry of the United Methodist Church as ready to serve as a part-time Licensed Local Pastor when an appointment is available. He currently leads the 5 p.m. worship service at Effort United Methodist Church every Saturday. Beginning March 1, the time will be moved to 6 p.m.

Lions board meets

The board of directors for the Western Pocono Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Western Pocono Community Library. All Lions are welcome.

Looking for artwork

St. Matthew's UCC will hold its "How Great Thou Art" event in July and needs items to be donated. They are asking any local artist, artisans and crafts persons of all kinds, to consider donating an original piece. Items are not needed until a week before the event. Blood drive

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive, (red cells and blood,) from 1-6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29 at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company. There is a drastic blood shortage and donations are needed.

Exercising seniors

There is a low-impact exercise class for those over 55 at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-10 a.m.

Salem St. Paul's Lutheran Church

The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network's food pantry shelves are bare. They need all foods: canned vegetables, soups, tuna fish, pasta, cereal, canned yams, boxed stuffing, gravy, etc.

PVEN also needs clothing and infant and toddler snowsuits and winter coats, men's winter coats, boys clothes (especially jeans) size 4-18, men's sweat pants (all sizes) and T-shirts, XL and XXL.

These items can be placed in a barrel at the church office.

PV School Board

Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday in the District Office, Route 115, Brodheadsville.

Free shingles shot

The Department of Health will hold a free shingles vaccination clinic from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the Chestnuthill Senior Center meeting at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.

One is eligible for the vaccine at no cost if 50 years of age or older and uninsured or underinsured. All programs are open to the public.

Chestnut Ridge Seniors

The Chestnut Ridge Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company. Bring a bag lunch. Also, bring in your wedding pictures to share in a Show and Tell. They will also play bingo.
