Shuffleboard League

The fall shuffleboard league session at the American Legion in Gilbert was to start on Aug. 12 with sign-ups at the post. The play will be every Thursday, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

PVEN needs

Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network (PVEN) is asking St. Matthew's UCC's help for specific food needs of cereal and peanut butter. Of course they will accept any and all other donations.

PVEN has also asked for donations of pencils, notebook paper, pens, composition books and back packs for children in need to go back to school.

Busy week

Effort UMC's United Methodist Women are busy preparing for the group's annual picnic on Aug. 12. The are also helping at Vacation Bible School and with the preparation of the school supply distribution on Saturday and the food pantry on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Monroe seniors

This group of Senior Citizens continues to meet at 9 a.m., Wednesdays and Fridays, with a variety of activities and luncheon meals. Those planning to attend should contact the site manager ahead of time.

PHS Class of 1943

The Stephen S. Palmer High School Class of 1943 will have its 70th year and final reunion on Saturday, Sept. 7. Class members for whom there is U.S. mail or e-mail addresses will receive the details within the next couple of weeks.

Safe Haven Pet Rescue

Safe Haven Pet Rescue will hold an adoption day from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, at Tractor Supply, Route 209, Brodheadsville. Safe Haven will have many young dogs available to meet and get to know. A pre-adoption application with references and a home visit is required before adoption.
