Historical society

The Nesquehoning Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the borough hall, 114 W. Catawissa St.

During the meeting, Bob Dunstan Jr. of Lansford, formerly of Nesquehoning, will be giving a presentation on the lost town of Lausanne.

Dunstan is a 1970 graduate of Panther Valley High School and a lifelong resident of the area.

Golden Agers

The Panther Valley Golden Agers will have a scheduled meeting on Monday at St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall, 1 E. Abbott St. in Lansford, beginning at 1 p.m.

Members are asked to wear something green to celebrate a belated St. Patrick's Day.

Yearly dues are still being collected.

Marian Catholic Class of '65 reunion

The 50th class reunion for the Marian Catholic High School class of 1965 will be held on May 24 at Capriotti Palasso's in McAdoo.

Summit Hill

Historical society

The Summit Hill Historical Society will meet today at 7 p.m. at the museum on West Ludlow Street.

Agenda items will include the Ludlow Park project, Hootenanny, bus trips, and other spring and summer programs.

New and inactive members are welcome to attend.


Baseball association

Lansford Baseball Association is still accepting sign-ups for T-ball, Little League, and Babe Ruth for players ages 5 to 15 and also for girls softball ages 8 to 14. Registration and fundraisers are required.

Easter egg hunt

An Easter egg hunt will take place at the Nesquehoning Rec Center at 1 p.m. April 4 for children of the community, up to the age of 10.

Monday, March 16: 7 p.m. Church board meeting.

Tuesday, March 17: 7 p.m. Women's Class.

Wednesday, March 18: 7 p.m. Choir rehearsal in preparation for Holy Week music.

Sunday, March 22: 9 a.m. Morning Worship; 10 a.m. Sunday School.

Wednesday, March 25: 7 p.m. Choir rehearsal.

Community Lenten worship service

A community Lenten worship service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford.

All are welcome.

Bible study is from 6 to 6:45 p.m.

Bring a sandwich to enjoy while feasting on God's word.

If PV schools are closed or close early because of weather, the service and Bible study will be canceled.

Golden Agers

Due to weather conditions, the Panther Valley Golden Agers meeting scheduled for Monday will be canceled.

The next scheduled meeting will be March 23.

Hospitality for March and April will be Mary Ann Maynard and Diane Gould.

Al-Anon meetings

The Al-Anon group meets Mondays at 7:15 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Church Hall, 120 E. Abbott St. in Lansford.

Al-Anon is a nonprofit, worldwide support organization helping families and friends of loved ones suffering from addiction.

Panther Valley Public Library

The Preschool Story Hour will be held every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

Tax preparation assistance for seniors is offered on Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Seniors must call the library to schedule an appointment.

Lenten worship

Community Wednesday Lenten worship will be held at 7 p.m. at Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, 44 W. White St., Summit Hill.

All are welcome.

If Panther Valley schools should have early dismissal or will be closed for weather issues, the service will be canceled.


VFW Ladies Auxiliary

The regular monthly meeting of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial Post 8008 will be held on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.

All members are invited to attend.

Panther Valley Public Library March happenings

The Preschool Story Hour will begin again on Tuesday with a birthday celebration for Dr. Seuss.

Story hour will be held every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

Tax preparation assistance for seniors is offered on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Seniors must call the library to schedule an appointment.

The Polish Heritage Discussion group will meet on March 11 and March 25 at 11 a.m.
