Outreach meeting

The Outreach Committee of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. at the home of Mary Ellen Ogozalek, 246 E. Bertsch St.

The meeting is open to interested persons.

A bloodmobile is scheduled on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at Palmerton Area High School.

High school students are reminded that, in order to donate to the Miller-Keystone bloodmobile, the school (not Miller) requires a signed parental permission slip.

The bloodmobile is scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and is primarily for students and school staff.

The next community Miller-Keystone bloodmobile will be on Thursday, April 8, at the First United Church of Christ.

Parents of the class of 2012, Tamaqua Area High School, will hold a meeting on Monday, Feb. 22 at the high school cafeteria at 7 p.m. The drawing for the fundraiser will be held at that time. All that are interested please attend.

The Eastern Schuylkill Democrats will meet on Monday, at 7:30 p.m., at the East End Fire Company.

The Decorating Committee for the Parents of the Tamaqua Class of 2010 meets every Monday, at 7 p.m., on the third floor of the Tamaqua Elks, 301 W. Broad St.

Members continue working on decorations for the annual All Night Party.

The GFWC-PA Woman's Club of Slatington will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 15, at St. John's Lutheran Church on Second St. in Slatington.

Jessica Ballas, one of the area's massage therapists, will instruct members and guests in the art of bellydancing. All interested area women are welcome to attend.

Summit Hill

Methodist Charge

The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Feb. 21, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will preside at both services.

The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

Kindergarten registration

The Tamaqua Area School District will hold orientation and registration for kindergarten for the 2010-11 school year.

An orientation night is scheduled for March 1 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Tamaqua Elementary School. Parents of incoming kindergarten students will be provided with information about what programs the district has to offer, the benefits of different tracts of learning and other general information needed to get students ready for registration and the first day of school.

Lehighton AMVETS

Lehighton AMVETS, Elwood Miller Post 106, will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 at the Lehighton V.F.W. Those interested should report early to help judge essays and posters.

Mixed volleyball league starting

Lehighton Recreation Center is starting a mixed volleyball league starting Friday, March 5. Games will be played every Friday evening. Any teams or adults interested in playing should contact Tom Evans for more information at the recreation center at (610) 377-0633 or (570) 294-4532.

Principal's Advisory Committee

This month's Pleasant Valley Intermediate School's Principal's Advisory Committee meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 22 at 1:15 p.m. Any parent of a PVI student interested in becoming a PAC member for the 2009-2010 school year, should call the PVI office at (570) 402-1000 ext. 3003.
