Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Williams Sr.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Williams Sr., of Coaldale, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married in Saint Michael’s Church in Lansford by the Rev. John’s Beneck on April 23, 1966.

Both formerly from Lansford, Mrs. Williams is the former Barbara Ann Kulhavy and is a member of the first graduating class of Panther Valley High School in 1965. She and her husband have lived at the same Coaldale address for 45 years.

The Carbon County Penn State Master Gardeners will hold their annual plant sale from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. May 21 at the Mahoning Valley Farmers Market, 2522 Blakeslee Blvd., in Lehighton.

All plants are grown/donated by Carbon County Master Gardeners.

For sale will be annuals, perennials, heirloom tomatoes and unusual plants; some native flowering and nonflowering plants.

Proceeds raised will be used for upcoming Master Gardener projects which provide quality educational training to the public.

A child care provider workshop: Is my school-age classroom STEM friendly? will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Penn State Extension, 724 Phillips St., Suite 201, in Stroudsburg.

The fee is $7.

Heritage Hill Senior Living, 800 Sixth St., Weatherly, invites seniors for an afternoon at the community, to learn how to enhance gardening skills, at 1:30 p.m. May 19.

George Burger Jr., from George Burger and Sons, will demonstrate and share advice on fertilizing, design, selecting plants, gardening techniques and how to build your own vegetable garden. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Carbon County Art League’s Annual Art Exhibition will be held at the Palmerton Library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 18-19.

An artists reception will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. that Sunday.

Area artists are encouraged to enter their artwork. Registration forms are available online.

County residents are also encouraged to become a “Friend of the Arts” by make a contribution to the CCAL or place an ad in the show booklet.

Beginning June 5 the George Taylor House, Lehigh and Poplar streets, Catasauqua, will showcase the early American folk-art techniques of the late Doris Hendricks Fry. The exhibit will feature the varied decorative art styles and media employed by Fry, including American primitive painting, theorem painting, reverse glass painting and tole painting.

Featured at the opening will be her son, Dave Fry, folk musician and teaching artist.
