Phineas Alexander Benyo

A son, Phineas Alexander Benyo, was born on Aug. 27, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, to Tara and Tim Benyo of Breinigsville.

He weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 19.5 inches in length.

Maternal grandparents are Liz and Ken Haug and Karen and Mike Takacs, all of Bethlehem.

Paternal grandparents are Darlene and Andrew Benyo, Jim Thorpe.

Paternal great-grandparents are Dorothy and the late Shorty Benyo, and the late Pauline and Corky Witt, all of Jim Thorpe.

Mr. and Mrs. James David Kravelk

Nesquehoning Recreation Center was the setting for the June 19 wedding of Donna Marie Katz and James David Kravelk of Nesquehoning. The double ring ceremony was officiated by District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek, and Robyn Hill was the organist.

The bride was given in marriage by her son, Charles A. Jackson III of Burke, Va. Her daughter, Christine Duddek of Pittston, was the maid of honor. The bride's sister, Mary Gaftney of Toms River, N.J., was the bridesmaid.

Ryan O'Donnell and Courtney Wehr

The engagement of Courtney Wehr of Andreas, to Ryan O'Donnell of New Ringgold, has been announced by their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Bob and Robin Wehr of Andreas. She is a 2006 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and will graduate from Kutztown University in December 2010 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a concentration in mathematics.

The Tamaqua High School Class of 1960 held a 50th-anniversary reunion on Aug. 28 at the New England Fire Company, Walker Township. The 60 class members in attendance were joined by nine former educators. The teachers are seated in the front row flanked by class members Nancy Brode Barron and Vincent Caputo. Teachers included: Lorchak Yurchak, Sarah Ann Richards, Curt Steigerwalt, Dr. H. Bruce Geiger, Richard Jones, Harry Fetterman, Harold Boyer, Mary Ellen Boyer and Nicholas Young.

Bowmanstown School is no longer, but the building has gone on to serve the community in a number of ways.

The students who attended the two-story building continue to meet and renew the friendships they made many years ago.

Recently, 65 classmates and guests had a chance to gather for the school's 12th reunion at Franklin Township Fire Company.

Attendees came from as far away as Florida, Arizona and Tennessee.

The school building is now used as a borough hall. It was formerly used as headquarters for Head Start.

The engagement of Melissa Luchetta of East Providence, R.I. to Christian Caputo, also of East Providence, has been announced by their families.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Stephen and Verna Luchetta of Andreas. She is a 2005 Tamaqua Area High School graduate, and a 2007 graduate of LCCC, where she received an associate degree in veterinary technology. She is employed as a licensed veterinary technician at Atwood Animal Hospital in Cranston, R.I.

Mr. and Mrs. Alan Sienkiewicz

Cheryl A. Kemp of Lehighton, and Alan Sienkiewicz, also of Lehighton, were united in marriage on Aug. 14, 2010 at the East Penn Sporting Club Social Hall in Lehighton. The Rev. William Thompson officiated the wedding ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of David and Thelma Eickhoff. She was given in marriage by her sons, Matthew Bryfogle and Kyle Kemp. She chose her daughter, Susan Powell, to serve as matron of honor. Her daughter, Kimberly Kemp, was a bridesmaid.

Matthew Bryfogle also served as best man, while his brother, Kyle Kemp, was the usher.

The Third Parryville School Reunion will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Franklin Township Fire Company. Doors open at 4 p.m. with dinner served at 6 p.m.
