Thorpe gains sweep; Northwestern earns split

Jim Thorpe gained a sweep against Minersville in track action on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Northwestern's teams gained a split in a tri-meet.Minersville-Jim ThorpeJim Thorpe swept Minersville in a Schuylkill League Division 1 meet.The Olympians cruised to a 132-18 victory in the boys contest.Shawn O'Toole (100, 200), Joseph Schwartz (110H, 300H) and William Munson (shot put, javelin) were all multiple event winners for Jim Thorpe.In the girls' meet, the Olympians topped the Battlin' Miners 82-65.Brooke Cope dominated the throwing events for Jim Thorpe, winning the shot put, discus and javelin.
