N. Lehigh director resigns board seat

A seasoned director has relinquished his seat on Northern Lehigh School Board.

The school board on Monday accepted the resignation of Director Edward Hartman.Hartman, who was not in attendance, was vice president of the board.Board President Gary Fedorcha said he was “Sorry to accept this resignation.”Afterward, the board accepted nominations to serve as vice president of the board.Director Robin Distler received the sole nomination, and was appointed to that position.After the meeting, Fedorcha said Hartman did not specifically indicate in his letter why he was resigning.Fedorcha said he assumes Hartman resigned due to personal reasons.“His letter did not say,” he said. “I was a little surprised.”Hartman joined the board in December 2007, having spent much of his tenure as board president.The board has advertised to fill the seat.Interested candidates should write a letter of application to Mr. Gregory S. Williams, board secretary, Northern Lehigh School District, 1201 Shadow Oaks Lane, Slatington, PA 18080.No telephone applications are being accepted. Letters can be mailed or delivered in person. Personal data, or a resume that will assist the directors in the interviews, should be included in the application.Applications must be submitted on or before 3 p.m. March 23. Whoever is chosen to fill the vacancy will serve until December.To serve beyond then, it will be necessary to run in the municipal election.
